You can feel good about what you use on your skin when you know what ingredients are in those products. A natural body wash will not only clean your body, but it will moisturize and hydrate your skin. Many homemade recipes are even good for sensitive skin.
Supplies
Honey, the secret ingredient to keep your skin healthy and smooth
Liquid castile soap, provides the suds for cleansing without using chemicals; choose unscented if you want to add your own essential oils
Oil, provides the moisturizing properties; choose any oil you like, but jojoba and grapeseed are two good options
Essential oils, if you use unscented castile liquid soap
You can also add vitamin E oil to provide further moisture, especially if you are prone to dry skin. You can choose to add it only in the winter when the change in humidity and temperature dries out skin.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup liquid castile soap
- ¼ cup of raw honey
- 2 teaspoons oil – olive jojoba or other types
- 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil if desired
- 50-60 drops of essential oils, if desired
Instructions
1. Measure out all ingredients.
2. Combine ingredients in a soap dispenser or dispenser with pump
3. Shake mixture until well-blended. You may need to give it a swirl before each use.
This recipe can last as long as one year before it must be replaced.
Consider your skin when choosing essential oils and what scents you like. For a relaxing shower or bath, you may want lavender or chamomile. To refresh you and start your day off right, try peppermint. You can also combine oils to create your own unique scent. If you choose to make body wash for a baby or young child, you can skip the oils completely. Certain oils provide benefits for your skin, and when added, they can replace other products. For example, chamomile is known to help acne and dermatitis. Add sandalwood for dry or chapped skin.
Safety Note : Always patch test for allergies when using ingredients you have not used before on your skin. Please also use caution and your best judgement when using glass soap dispensers or glass containers in or around the shower or bath.
